Girls Guide to Long Distance

In a long distance relationship? Talking to a boy, but are afraid to commit because he's an hour away? Ever wanted to try long distance? THIS is the blog for you. My survival guide to long distance relationships....

Texting: Friend or Foe?
Texting is one of the greatest inventions because it allows you to send any thought to someone without having to dial their number and call. It's also one of the worst inventions ever because you can misread something SO easily. Ever gotten into an argument over a text? Been there! My tip to staying healthy is texting is a must in long distance, but try to limit the texts and instead call or FaceTime more. It allows for less confusion, less arguments and gets rid of hard feelings. Trust me that a text can be a make it or break it at times, so be careful!

FaceTime: Your Saving Grace
My boyfriend and I FaceTime probably three to four times a week when we're away from each other. FaceTiming everyday probably isn't the healthiest thing to do so give yourself some occasional space! We like to mix it up when we do talk so we don't get tired of just talking about how our days went. Mixing it up allows variety. We'll do one or two FaceTimes just catching up on how everything's going, one FaceTime that's probably a serious conversation or where I'm at least crying for half of it and we FaceTime date! Set up FaceTime dates, an hour or two where you watch your favorite movie or play your favorite game. It works!

Snapchat: The Secret Weapon
Snapchat can be fun! Especially when you want to show off your hard work in the gym...hehehe. Snapchat is perfect because it allows you to snapshot what you're doing. If you notice something funny that reminds you of your loved one, snap it! It's also great because you can leave them guessing and you can totally be the flirt you are in person over Snapchat. If you're uncomfortable by the thought, just try it one night. I promise your partner will love it!

Arguments and Intimacy: A Fear Free Playing Ground
Arguments and intimacy are two key things in a relationship. Intimacy because of obvious reasons, but arguments are important too because they show where you two need to grow together and what your faults are. When my boyfriend and I argue, we try to keep it for a future FaceTime or a phone call, texting never solves anything. Be open and honest with your lover, that's the only way distance and arguments can be solved. Admit when you're wrong and try to move on as soon as possible, distance can make it tough! Intimacy is a hard one too because the physical touch is not there. To make it real, Snapchat, like I mentioned is great, but also FaceTime. Realize that you can't control the distance between you two, but the love and connection can still be there. All it takes is time and effort.

I hope that helps you long distance lovers out. If you have anymore questions or concerns, leave a comment below! Good luck! Xoxo
